Terms of Use

Periscope Library — Terms of Use

Version 1.2 — 8th July 2026

These terms govern your use of the Periscope Library. Please read them before you sign up. By ticking the box to confirm you accept these terms, you agree to them. If you do not accept them, please do not create an account or use the Library.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will publish the updated version with a new version number and date, and your continued use after that means you accept the updated terms. The version you accepted at sign-up is recorded.

1. Who we are and who these terms are with

The Periscope Library (the "Library") is operated by My Compliance Centre Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). My Compliance Centre Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales, registration number 12405117, with its registered office at 69 Hermitage Road, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, SG5 1DB. These terms are an agreement between you and My Compliance Centre Ltd.

In these terms:

  • "you" means the individual using the Library;

  • "Content" means the frameworks, guides, articles, infographics, carousels, workbooks, case studies, videos, courses and other material we make available in the Library;

  • "Tools" means the interactive diagnostics, assessments and other tools in the Library that take information you enter and return an individualised output or report;

  • "Periscope" means our email community of the same name, which is separate from the Library and which you may choose to join.

2. The basis on which you use the Library

The Library is provided for your professional use in your capacity as a compliance professional or as part of your work. It is not aimed at consumers, and you confirm that you are using it for purposes relating to your profession, business or employment.

The Library is free of charge. We may from time to time offer specific Content, courses or training for a fee. Any paid offering is entirely optional, is clearly identified as paid before you buy it, and is governed by the additional terms in section 9 (together with any further terms specific to that offering). Nothing in the Library is charged for unless you actively choose to buy it.

3. What the Library is — and what it is not

The Library is a collection of general material, observations, frameworks and tools intended to help compliance leaders think through the harder parts of their role. It is intended to be useful, but it is general information and educational material only.

The Library, its Content and its Tools:

  • are not advice of any kind — they are not legal, regulatory, compliance, financial, professional or any other form of advice, and must not be treated or relied upon as advice;

  • do not constitute regulated advice or a regulated service. My Compliance Centre Ltd is not providing a regulated financial service through the Library, and nothing in the Library should be understood as such;

  • do not create any advisory, professional, fiduciary or client relationship between you and us;

  • are not a substitute for your own judgement or for advice from suitably qualified professional advisers who can consider your specific circumstances.

You are responsible for any decision you make or action you take. Before acting on anything in the Library, you should apply your own professional judgement and, where appropriate, take your own professional advice. We are not responsible for any decision you make, or any loss you suffer, as a result of relying on the Library.

4. The Tools and AI-assisted output

Some Tools take information you enter and return an individualised output, report or commentary. You should understand the following about how they work and how far they can be relied upon:

  • The output is generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence. It is produced automatically from the information you provide and from general material, not from any human review of your specific situation.

  • AI-assisted output may contain errors, omissions or inaccuracies, and may not reflect your actual circumstances. It is general information and educational material, on the same basis set out in section 3 — it is not advice and must not be relied upon as advice or as a substitute for your own judgement.

  • The output is for your own use. It reflects what you entered. A different input would produce a different output.

The same point that applies to the Library as a whole applies with particular force here: the more personalised an output feels, the more important it is that you treat it as a prompt for your own thinking rather than a conclusion you can rely on.

5. Information you enter into the Tools

The Tools work best, and most safely, when you describe roles and situations rather than named individuals. We strongly advise you not to enter the real names of colleagues, Board members or other identifiable people, or your employer's confidential information, into the Tools. The Tools are designed to be just as useful when you refer to a role (for example, "the Chair" or "the Head of Risk") rather than a person, and using roles keeps you on the right side of your own confidentiality and data-protection obligations.

By using the Tools, you confirm that:

  • you are entitled to enter the information you provide;

  • you will not enter confidential information, or personal data about other people, that you are not authorised to share; and

  • you will not enter anything unlawful, defamatory, or infringing of anyone else's rights.

You are responsible for the information you choose to enter. If you enter information about other people or about your employer, you do so on your own responsibility.

6. How we handle the information you enter

Our Privacy Notice explains in full what personal data we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it and who we share it with. It forms part of your use of the Library and you should read it alongside these terms. The key points to be aware of here are:

  • To provide the Tools, the information you enter is processed using a third-party AI provider (currently Anthropic, the provider of Claude), which may involve processing outside the UK, including in the United States. Your inputs are processed under that provider's commercial terms, and are not used to train its AI models. The Privacy Notice sets out the transfer safeguards that apply.

  • We track your activity and progress in the Library (for example, which Content you have opened or completed) so that the Library works properly and so you can pick up where you left off. This activity and progress tracking is part of using the Library.

  • We may use anonymised and aggregated data — that is, data that has been pooled and stripped of anything that identifies you, your colleagues or your employer — for research, to produce content, and to improve and develop the Library and its Tools. We will not use this data to identify you or anyone else.

7. CPD records

The Library can record continuing professional development ("CPD") activity for you and let you export it. You should treat this feature as a convenience that supports records you hold elsewhere — it is not, and should not be relied upon as, your sole or definitive record of CPD. You remain responsible for your own CPD obligations and record-keeping.

Any CPD time shown against Content is indicative. Whether any activity counts towards your CPD requirements, and how it should be recorded, is for you to determine against the rules of your own professional body or regulator.

Unless we expressly state otherwise for a specific item, Content and Tools in the Library are not formally accredited or certified by any professional body, and completing them does not amount to a regulated qualification or formal accreditation.

8. Courses, programmes and training

Where the Library includes courses, programmes or other training, the same principles apply: it is educational material, and, unless we expressly state otherwise for a specific offering, it does not constitute a regulated qualification, formal accreditation or certified CPD. If we introduce a specific accredited or certificated offering in future, that offering will say so clearly and will be governed by its own terms.

9. Paying for Content, courses and training

Most of the Library is free. Some Content, courses or training may be offered for a fee. Where that is the case:

  • It is always optional and clearly labelled. Any paid item is clearly identified as paid, and its price is shown, before you commit to buy it. You are never charged for anything unless you actively choose to buy it.

  • Prices. Prices vary between offerings and are shown before you buy. Whether a price includes VAT will be made clear at that point. We may change our prices, but a change will not affect anything you have already bought.

  • Payment. Payments are taken by Stripe, a third-party payment provider authorised in the UK, not by us. We do not receive or store your card or payment details. Your payment is also subject to Stripe's own terms and privacy arrangements.

  • What you get. When you buy a paid item, you receive access to it as described at the point of purchase, for your own professional and internal business use. The licence and restrictions in section 10 apply to paid Content in the same way as to free Content.

  • Refunds and cancellation. You are buying for professional or business purposes (see section 2). Where you buy as a business, the statutory cancellation rights that apply to consumers do not apply. If you are buying as a consumer, you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days; however, because our courses and training are digital content and services you can access immediately, by starting or accessing a paid item you ask us to begin providing it straight away and you accept that you lose that cancellation right once access has begun. This does not affect your statutory rights where a paid item is faulty or not as described. Beyond your statutory rights, if something has gone wrong, contact us at info@mycompliancecentre.com and we will deal with it fairly.

10. Intellectual property

All Content, Tools, frameworks, methodologies, text, graphics, designs and other material in the Library are owned by My Compliance Centre Ltd or our licensors, and are protected by intellectual property rights.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Library, and to use the Content and Tools, for your own professional and internal business purposes.

You may not:

  • copy, redistribute, republish, sell or otherwise make the Content or Tools available to others;

  • use the Content or Tools to provide a service to third parties or for any commercial purpose beyond your own internal use;

  • systematically download, scrape, harvest or extract Content or data from the Library, whether manually or by automated means;

  • remove or alter any branding, attribution or notices.

If you would like to reproduce or share any of the Content more widely, we are often happy to allow it — please just ask first, by writing to ben.mason@mycompliancecentre.com.

Where a Tool generates a report for you from your own input, you may use that report for your own professional and internal business purposes.

11. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

  • access the Library by any automated means, or scrape, crawl or harvest it;

  • attempt to reverse-engineer, copy or replicate the Tools or the way they work;

  • attempt to interfere with, manipulate, overload or misuse the Tools — including attempts to manipulate AI-assisted output into producing inaccurate, inappropriate or harmful results;

  • share your login or let anyone else use your account;

  • use the Library for any unlawful purpose, or in any way that infringes anyone else's rights.

12. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. We may suspend or close your account, or withdraw your access to the Library, if we reasonably believe you have breached these terms or misused the Library.

13. Availability and changes to the Library

The Library is provided as is and as available. We do not guarantee that it will be available, uninterrupted or error-free, that the Content will be accurate or up to date, or that the Tools will produce any particular result.

We may add, change, withdraw or discontinue any Content, Tool or part of the Library — or the Library as a whole — at any time and without notice. Because of this, you should not treat the Library as a permanent store of, or system of record for, anything you need to keep; please keep your own copies and records.

14. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded — including death or personal injury caused by our negligence, our fraud, and, where you have paid for Content, courses or training, our duty to provide it with reasonable care and skill.

Subject to that, and given that the Library is provided free of charge for your professional use:

  • we provide the Library, Content and Tools without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law;

  • we are not liable to you for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Library, the Content, the Tools or any output, including any decision you take or do not take as a result; and

  • in particular we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, business, opportunity, goodwill, data or anticipated savings.

Where you have paid for Content, a course or training, our total liability to you in connection with that paid item will not, in any event, exceed the amount you paid for it.

15. Links and third-party content

The Library may link to, or reference, third-party websites or material. We are not responsible for third-party content, and a link is not an endorsement.

16. General

These terms, together with our Privacy Notice, are the entire agreement between you and us about your use of the Library.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will continue to apply.

If we do not enforce a right, that is not a waiver of it.

These terms, and any dispute relating to them or to the Library, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
